A Mother of Great Faith (Matthew 15:21-28)

Happy Mother’s Day! We’re glad that you’re here today to reflect on God’s gift of mothers. Everyone here has a mother, no exceptions. Today is a day to give thanks to God for the mothers that He has given us in His wisdom. Some here today are mothers and others will be mothers in the future. A mother’s love for her children is a picture of God’s love for His children. Today, we want to say thank you to all the mothers that are here today. Thank you for the sacrificial love you have demonstrated in raising your children. Father, thank you for each mother represented here today. Thank you for the children you have blessed them with the opportunity to raise. For those who still have children at home, give each mother strength and wisdom to raise those children for you. For those whose children have already left home, we pray that those mothers would continue to pray for and encourage their children to walk in your ways. For those mothers who have grandchildren, we pray that they would pass on a godly heritage to their children’s children. We thank you for the love each mother has for her children and how it reminds us of your love for us. May we honor our mothers today as we give thanks to you for creating them. In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.

Proverbs 31:30 (NIV)  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

So often in today’s society, a woman’s outward appearance is all that is noticed. But God’s Word here teaches us that what’s inside a mother is what should be noticed. If a women fears the Lord, she should be praised and honored. To fear the Lord is to have faith the Lord. To trust Him for yourself and your family. Today, my message is entitled “A Mother of Great Faith.” Wherever you are at in your life’s journey as a mother, God wants you to grow in your faith. Even though my message this morning will be directed towards mothers, the principles will apply to each and every one of us.

Reaching the Unlikely (Luke 19:1-11)

Have you ever felt that your life was out of control? That you were just lurching from one difficulty to the next? That you were just like a ship being tossed and driven by the storm? Maybe you’ve felt like that in the past, maybe some of you are feeling like that right now. If so, God has some good news for you this morning. God cares about you and your life’s circumstances. He has a plan and purpose for your life. When you’re following His plan, than nothing is out of control, because God is in charge. God doesn’t just want you to survive in life, He doesn’t want you to just get by in today’s world, He wants you to Change Your World. Rather than having the world wreak havoc on your life, God wants you to impact and influence your world. What that means is that God wants you to impact and influence the people around you for Him.

In the sports world, a common truth is that the best defense is a good offense. The same is true in the spiritual world. You’re in the safest place in life when you’re following God’s plan to influence people to find and grow in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 14:26 (NIV)  He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.

The Resurrection Changes Everything (1 Corinthians 15)

Happy Easter! We’re glad that you’ve come to celebrate Easter with us today. Although we celebrate Easter in the spring, Easter really has nothing to do with the season. Easter has nothing to do with rabbits or eggs. In fact if you think about it rabbits and eggs have nothing to do with each other either. What is Easter all about? As believers, we celebrate Easter to remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the most profound event in human history. Jesus was crucified, pronounced dead, laid in a tomb and three days later rose from the dead.

How do we know that Jesus rose from the dead? We have multiple eyewitness accounts with original documents within a few years of the event. Hundreds of people saw Jesus alive again. The apostles went from men overcome with grief at the death of Jesus to courageous proclaimers of the resurrection of Jesus. We have multiple extra-biblical documents that validate the resurrection. We have the simple fact of the empty tomb. The enemies of Jesus went to great lengths to protect the tomb from any tampering. They would have loved to squelch Christianity by producing the body of Jesus, dead, but they couldn’t. Peter spoke in …

Acts 3:15 (NIV) You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.

Communicate Creatively (Luke 10:25-37)

In this message series, we’re talking about Changing Your World. That might seem like a pretty daunting task, but God created you to do it. You were created to change your world. You were created to influence other people for eternity. You see, when help someone get connected to Jesus Christ, not only do you change the world, but you change eternity, forever. Talk about significance, talk about having an impact with your life. Nothing can top that.

To start off this morning, I want us to reflect on God’s sovereignty in our lives. God is sovereign, which means that He is in control of everything in our world. The world is not out of control, God is in charge of history.

Acts 17:26-27 (NIV2011)  From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.  God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. …

Sharing the Good News (Acts 10:1-48)

God has created you to Change Your World, one person at a time. Sometimes we’re tempted to through up our hands at the condition of our world and say it’s hopeless, there’s nothing that we can do. When we consider something is hopeless, then we don’t pursue doing anything. Yet, with God, you and I as believers can make a huge impact on our world.

Luke 18:27 (NIV2011)  Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” …

Getting People Interested (John 4:4-42)

Are you willing to change the world? Are you willing to make a difference for God? That’s what God created you to do. To live an exciting, adventurous life changing your world. Some would say, the world is too big and I’m too small, what can I do? God would say, with Me nothing is impossible. Together we can do great things. Others would say, well I’ve tried in the past, but I haven’t accomplished much. God would say to you, Don’t give up, don’t get tired in doing good, you can make a difference for eternity with your life. Yet others would say, I’ve got too many problems of my own to think about doing anything to change the world. God would say, when you put Me and My kingdom first in your life, I will meet your needs and take care of your problems.

God wants us to become like children again, He wants us to dream again about doing something great for God. Of living the adventure that you were created to live. What is at the heart of the adventure that you were created for? You were created to change your world, by leading other people to Jesus Christ. Jesus summarized His marching orders for every believer in

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. …
