Our message series in January is entitled “Praying with Jesus.” In this series, we’re looking at the phrases in the Lord’s prayer through the lens of other Bible passages. The Lord’s prayer is a model or example prayer. Jesus intended for us to learn how to pray for this prayer, not to pray it repeatedly word for word.

Currently, we’re in a message series entitled “Praying with Jesus.” In this series, I believe God wants to teach all of us how to pray better. What should be our goals in prayer? Our goals in prayer should be two-fold. First of all, God wants you to get to know Him better through prayer. Prayer can build your relationship with God in a way that no other activity can. Secondly, God wants your prayers to be answered. God wants to answer your prayers and the Bible contains a large amount of teaching on how to see your prayers answered.

Talking with Your Father (Matthew 6:5-15)

Today, we begin a new message series entitled “Praying with Jesus.” In this series, we’re going to be talking about one of the essential activities of a believer, the topic of prayer. Prayer is communicating with God, the creator of the universe. Prayer is two-way communication, prayer is conversation, prayer is talking with God.

Many people struggle with prayer. They feel like they should be praying more, but other things get in the way, they forget, they get tired and their prayer lives suffer. I believe that the main reason that people struggle with prayer is because of unanswered prayer. If people were completely honest, the reason they don’t pray more is that they’re not sure it really works. If you’re not sure something really works, then why bother to do it more. Of course, if you’re really in a pickle, you’ll pray, because it just might work and it sure can’t hurt.

What I believe that God wants to teach us in this series, is how to pray prayers that get answered. If you’re praying prayers that get answered, you’re going to get excited and you’re going to pray more and see more answers. There are many reasons for unanswered prayer, but let’s begin with one found in

Jesus Our Peace (John 14:1-27)

Happy New Year! 2014 is just around the corner. I’m grateful for a new year to serve God and see Him do great things in our lives and church. What do you see when you look to the future in 2014? A national poll taken last week showed that 29% of people think our country is headed in the right direction and 64% think it is on the wrong track. I think if we do an honest assessment, our country has some problems and troubles. That shouldn’t surprise us. To the degree that we have departed from God’s standards in our country, we are going to have increased troubles.

However, as believers, should the troubles in our country depress us or should they give us reason for hope? The Bible teaches us that troubles are an opportunity for God and His people to make an impact. God allows troubles to come so that people will turn to Him and His church for help in their lives. I believe that no matter how difficult the troubles around us may be in 2014, that God can give us peace in the midst of those troubles.

Today, my message is entitled “Jesus Our Peace.” We’re going to see how Jesus can bring peace into our lives no matter what is going on around us.

Merry Christmas! It’s a wonderful time of the year as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Jesus was not just another baby, He was God come to earth to live among us. Christmas is about one of the most incredible miracles that has ever happened. A virgin birth, where Jesus was born of a human mother and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Our Security (John 10:1-21)

Our December message series is called “The Child Who Changed the World Forever.” We’re talking about Jesus whose words, life and ministry altered this planet forever. Many down through the centuries have chosen to follow Jesus and have been blessed. Yet others, have chosen to follow leaders other than Jesus with their lives and have ended up in disaster.

Everyone on earth can be placed in one of two groups, those who follow Jesus and those who don’t. Those who don’t follow Jesus tend to persecute those who do to one degree or another. So this world is a dangerous place for a believer. There is evil all around us and we need God’s protection and security to keep us safe.

Today, my message is entitled “Jesus Our Security.”  There is a place in life that is safe, there is a place that is secure and that’s close to Jesus.
