Turn Defeat into Victory (Daniel 2)

Today, my message is entitled “From Defeat to Victory.” We’re going to be talking about dealing with what many would consider impossible situations, situations from which there may seem no escape. From time to time, each of us will face these kinds of impossible situations.

In May 1940, the allied forces were being badly defeated by the Germans in France. 350,000 soldiers had been driven back to the sea at the port of Dunkirk in France. They had nowhere to hide and there were too many to evacuate by sea. They were just waiting for the German airforce to obliterate them. It was an impossible situation. The British commander sent a short three-word message to England “But if not.” It was a reference to what Daniel’s 3 friends said as they were about to be cast into a blazing furnace.

Daniel 3:17-18 (NKJV) our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, … But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” …

A Dream Reborn (Genesis 22:1-19)

Today, our message is called “A Dream Reborn.” We’re going to be talking about dreams or visions for your future. A dream or vision for the future gives you hope. A dream for the future helps you plan and focusses your energy and time. God wants you to have a dream for the future. If you don’t have a dream, then life can be very depressing and you won’t accomplish what God has for you. Some people have a dream about their future, but it’s not from God.

Proverbs 28:19 (NIV)  He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty. …

A New Day (John 20:1-29)

Happy Easter! What a difference from last Sunday! I’m ready for spring, how about you? But Easter isn’t about the change of seasons or Easter bunnies and eggs. Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The greatest event in human history. The resurrection of Jesus brought A New Day to our earth. My message today is entitled “A New Day.” Jesus came as a light into the world, dispelled the darkness and brought a new day. But many people still live in darkness and haven’t entered that new day. …

Greatly Blessed (Ephesians 1:3-14)

In the world, there are two kinds of people: those who see a glass 50% full as half-filled and those who see that same glass as half-empty. The person who sees the glass half-full is happy that there is still 50% left. The person who sees the glass half-empty is sad that there is 50% gone. What kind of person are you? Half-full or half-empty?

The world that we live in is not a full glass kind of world. Only when we get to heaven will our glasses be filled to the brim. In this life, we live in a 50% full glass world. There are good things in our life and some not so good things. Currently we’re in a message series called “How God Sees You.” When God looks at you, how do you think He sees you? Half-full or half-empty? When you look at yourself, how do you see yourself? Half-full or half-empty? …

Weak Yet Strong (2 Corinthians 12:1-10)

Today, my message is entitled “Weak Yet Strong.” We’re going to be looking at the topics of weakness and strength. Which would you rather be, weak or strong? I think most of us would say strong, wouldn’t we. Strength is celebrated in our society. The strong win in sports, the weak are eliminated. The strong rise to the top in areas of leadership in many segments of our society.

And what do the strong often do? They let you know about their accomplishments, how strong they are and in comparison how weak others are. When we compare ourselves to the strong around us, we may feel weak and discouraged. If only I was as strong as so and so, then life would be so much better. But what is God’s view? In this series, we are learning to see as God sees. Man looks at the external, but God looks on the heart. What looks strong on the outside, may not be so strong at all in the inside. …

Completely Forgiven (Hebrews 10:1-18)

We’re currently in a message series called “How God Sees You.” In this series, we’re looking at God’s Word to better understand how God sees each one of us. Our goal in this series is to grow in seeing ourselves and others as God sees. I believe that seeing your world correctly begins with seeing yourself correctly. If we don’t have an accurate view of ourselves, then we won’t see others the way that God sees them. …
