What About Other Religions? (Romans 2:17-29)

We are currently in a message series called “All About Salvation.” The whole topic of salvation is a very controversial topic these days. 80% of Americans believe that many religions lead to God. They reason, it really doesn’t matter which one you pick, as long as you sincerely follow it. In the end, you’ll be saved.

Since that view is so prevalent today, let’s think about it. There are many religions in the world. The major world religions in order of size are: Christianity, Islam, Non-religious/Secular, Hinduism, Chinese traditional religions and Buddhism. If you’ve taken any kind of class in comparative religion, you’ll immediately recognize that all of these religions are very different. The God they each claim to worship is very different and their ways to reach God are different as well. So how can all these different religions lead to the same God? The truth is they can’t. In fact, each of these religions worships different gods, for there are supernatural beings that are not God. …

What About Good People? (Romans 2:1-16)

Last Sunday, we began a new message series called “All About Salvation.” In this series, we looking at what God’s word has to say about the important topic of salvation. We’re concentrating on looking at the first 3 chapters of the book of Romans.

Last Sunday, our message from Romans 1 was entitled “Understanding God’s Wrath.” We learned that everyone ought to worship God because God has revealed Himself to everyone in creation. However, people don’t worship God, they worship created things, which is sin. Because of this sin, everyone who doesn’t worship their creator is under God’s wrath. God still loves them, but until they accept His salvation, they are under His wrath and destined for an eternity in hell. We also learned that God gives people who don’t put Him first in their lives over to sins of sexual impurity, homosexuality and a depraved mind. …

Understanding God’s Wrath (Romans 1:16-32)

Today, we begin a new message series called “All About Salvation.” The topic of salvation is really the most important topic in the world. Your understanding of salvation and reaction to it will determine the success of your life on this earth and your eternal destiny in the next life. In one sense, salvation is simple. I present a simplified way to understand how to be saved every Sunday. A, B, C. Admit your sins, Believe in Jesus, Commit your life to Him.

Yet, as I talk to people and read, it seems to me that there is much misunderstanding about the whole topic of salvation. Although the concept of salvation in the Bible can be explained simply so that a child can understand, there also is a depth of wisdom in the Bible that God wants us to know.  …

Spiritual Warfare in Prayer (Daniel 10:1-21)

This is the final message in our series “Teach Us To Pray.” We certainly haven’t exhausted everything the Bible has to say about prayer, but we’ve covered some very important topics. Personally, God has taught me some important lessons as I have studied what Jesus taught on prayer. You may have a read a passage before, but God can open your mind up to it in a new way, in a way that brings change to your life. That’s what God has done for me as we’ve gone through this series. He’s given me a new faith in the power of prayer. He’s also given me some new ideas to keep my prayer life more organized and consistent. And He’s reminded me of the importance of humbling oneself through fasting when praying. My prayer is that for each one of you, God has spoken something that has directly impacted the effectiveness of your prayer life. …

Prayer Impact (Matthew 9:35-10:9)

Prayer is the most fundamental behavior of a believer. Our faith is expressed in prayer, communication with God. We’re learning about prayer in our current message series, “Teach Us To Pray.” I am excited about what God is teaching me about prayer as I study this important topic. I believe that we haven’t really begun to tap the potential of prayer to impact the world around us for God. …

Instructions for Effective Prayer (Matthew 6:5-18)

Currently, we’re in a message series called “Teach Us To Pray.” In order for learning to occur, there must be a teacher and a learner. If you’ve got the best teacher in the world, but an unengaged student, then no learning will occur. If you’ve got an engaged student, but a poor teacher, learning will be minimal. In this message series, we’re looking at the teaching of Jesus on prayer. So, we’ve got the very best teacher in the world. You couldn’t find a better teacher than Jesus. Jesus was God, so He knows better than any of us will ever know, exactly how to effectively communicate with God through prayer. …
