Jesus Your Motivation (Colossians 3:18-4:6)

Today, we’re going to be talking about Jesus Your Motivation as we finish our message series from the book of Colossians. People have all kinds of motivations for the things they do and the things they say. Some people are motivated by greed, power, or pride. Others are motivated by wanting to do their best, to help others or to accomplish something important in life. Motives are often hard to discern. When a crime is committed, the detectives attempt to discern the motive of the criminal. The crime is obvious, but why did he do it? What was the motive? One person may do something good for someone and a second person could do the exact same thing, but they could have radically different motives. God’s Word says that motives are important.

Proverbs 16:2 (NIV)  All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD. …

Jesus Your Life (Colossians 3:2-17)

If someone asked you the question “What are you living for?” how would you answer? What gets you up in the morning, what keeps you going through the day? Everybody is living for something, although not many have even pondered the question “What are you living for?” Good question to ask someone to start a discussion about life’s important issues.

Second related question, we want to think about this morning “Who are you living for?” Actually, this is the more fundamental question. Because when you answer who you are living for, you can also answer what are you living for. Now according to the Bible, there are only two possible answers to this question, “who are you living for?” For a believer in Jesus Christ, the only answer is that I am living for Jesus. For the unbeliever, the answer from the Bible is that they are living for Satan. Now, most unbelievers don’t understand that or even believe in Satan, so what makes sense to them is that they’re basically living for themselves, living to please themselves. As a human being, created by God, can only be fulfilled in life by living for God, those who live for themselves will live lives that miss God’s purpose.

Today, we’re going to be talking about “Jesus Your Life.” If you’re a believer, God doesn’t just want you to live for Him 50% of the time, or 80 or 90%, His plan for your life is 100% for Jesus. Now, how can you live for someone you can’t see? How can you live to expand a kingdom that is not visible?

Colossians 3:2 (NIV) Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. …

Jesus Your Freedom (Colossians 2:6-23)

We’re in a message series called “Jesus Your Everything.” This series is based on the book of Colossians, which is all about the supremacy of Jesus Christ. During this series, I’d encourage you to read through the entire book, it’s only four chapters. My prayer is that each one of us would grow in our love and commitment to Jesus Christ during this series.

Today, my message is entitled “Jesus Your Freedom.” We’re going to be talking about the freedom that comes through living for Jesus. People who have not yet become believers are living in bondage to sin and Satan, whether they realize it or not. Many believers are not living in the fullness of the freedom that Jesus has for them. The truths of God’s Word that we’re going to cover today will help you grow in freedom and breaking free of anything that might keep you in bondage. True freedom comes when you live life filled with Jesus. …

Jesus Your Leader (Colossians 1:15-23)

Today, my message is entitled “Jesus Your Leader.” We’re going to be talking about who Jesus is and why we must follow Him as our leader.

The question “Who is Jesus?” is one of the most important questions in the world. How that question is answered separates Christianity from every other religion on the face of the planet. How the question “Who is Jesus?” is answered separates true Christian churches from cult Christian churches that are Christian in name only. Finally, how an individual person answers the question “Who is Jesus for me?” determines whether they are truly saved or not.

Romans 10:9 (NIV)  That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. …

Jesus Your Future (Colossians 1:3-14)

Today, we begin a new message series called Jesus Your Everything. We’re going to be talking about the most controversial and influential person who has ever lived, Jesus Christ. Even today in America, the name Jesus stirs up strong reactions with people. Many people simply speak of God. The problem with this is that God means many different things to different people. To the Muslim, God is Allah. To the Hindu, God is Brahman. To the Mormon, there are many gods and you may become one some day. The gods described by different religions are not the same god with different names, they are very different types of beings. …

Essential Food for Life (Isaiah 55:1-13)

Today, we’re going to conclude our message series, The Book of Life, talking about the Bible, God’s Word. My message today is entitled “Essential Food for Life.” If I was to do a survey today and ask everyone hear if they ate some food every day last week, I would predict that virtually 100% ate food every day last week. Unless you’re extremely sick or on an extended spiritual fast, you are going to eat. Why? Because food is essential for life, if you don’t eat, you’re going to get weak and eventually die. In fact, if you get so busy that you forget to eat, guess what, your body tells you that you forgot to eat. Your stomach starts growling, you feel hungry and you make sure you get to eat soon. …
