My topic for today is the question “Is Faith Required for Healing?” Whenever you talk about healing, someone will negatively talk about “faith healers.” Everyone once in a while, you will read in the news about some parent who supposedly was believing God to heal a child and didn’t take them to the doctor and something terrible happened. So, let me start off by saying that God heals through many different ways, including through doctors and medicine. As a believer, our faith is in God for healing, as we use every means that God has blessed us with for healing, which includes modern medicine. So, when someone is sick, pray and go to the doctor. Today we start a new message series called “Jesus Our Healer.” We’re going to talking about the topic of healing. Sickness is a universal need. Everyone is sick from time to time and we all know others who are battling various kinds of illnesses. The latest figures show that 18% of all expenditures in the United States are spent on healthcare, $2.7 trillion dollars worth. So as much a blessing as modern medicine is, it certainly has not eliminated sickness and disease.

People have all kinds of opinions about healing, but in this series, we’re going to using the Bible as our guide to the topic.

Turn Defeat into Victory (Daniel 2)

Today, my message is entitled “From Defeat to Victory.” We’re going to be talking about dealing with what many would consider impossible situations, situations from which there may seem no escape. From time to time, each of us will face these kinds of impossible situations.

In May 1940, the allied forces were being badly defeated by the Germans in France. 350,000 soldiers had been driven back to the sea at the port of Dunkirk in France. They had nowhere to hide and there were too many to evacuate by sea. They were just waiting for the German airforce to obliterate them. It was an impossible situation. The British commander sent a short three-word message to England “But if not.” It was a reference to what Daniel’s 3 friends said as they were about to be cast into a blazing furnace.
